Terms of Use

Effective Date: January 2025

TaxTech NG is a digital tax-filing assistant built to help Nigerians file NRS-compliant Personal Income Tax for the 2026 tax year. We provide tools to compute taxes, generate receipts, and facilitate payments according to the National Revenue Service (NRS) 2026 reform structure.

Important Disclaimer: TaxTech NG is NOT the National Revenue Service (NRS). It is a third-party digital assistant that helps users file taxes according to NRS rules.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using TaxTech NG, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use and all applicable laws and regulations. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, you must not use the platform.

By using TaxTech NG, you agree to:

  • Provide accurate and truthful information in all filings
  • Use the platform lawfully and in compliance with Nigerian tax laws
  • Not attempt fraud, misrepresentation, or manipulation of tax calculations
  • Accept that Nigerian tax laws apply to all filings made through the platform, and that final tax liability is determined by the NRS

2. Eligibility

To use TaxTech NG, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Be a Nigerian resident or have taxable presence in Nigeria under the 2026 NRS personal income tax rules
  • Be filing personal income tax as an individual, not as a corporation or business entity

Corporations cannot file via TaxTech NG. This platform is designed exclusively for Personal Income Tax (PIT) filings under the 2026 NRS reform structure.

3. User Responsibilities

As a user of TaxTech NG, you are responsible for:

3.1 Accuracy of Information

  • Providing accurate income details from all sources
  • Entering correct personal information (name, address, date of birth, etc.)
  • Ensuring identity verification details (BVN, TIN) are accurate and belong to you
  • Claiming only allowable deductions and reliefs under NRS rules

3.2 Review Before Payment

You are required to carefully review the computed tax amount, filing summary, and all entered information before proceeding to payment. Once payment is completed, the filing is considered submitted and cannot be edited.

3.3 False Information

Providing false, incomplete, or misleading information may invalidate your filing, result in penalties from the NRS, or lead to legal consequences under Nigerian tax law. TaxTech NG is not responsible for filings based on incorrect user-provided information.

4. Platform Responsibilities

TaxTech NG commits to:

  • Providing accurate NRS-aligned tax computation based on the 2026 reform structure
  • Generating compliant tax receipts with unique reference numbers and masked BVN/TIN for privacy protection
  • Maintaining secure storage with bank-level encryption (AES-256)
  • Supporting both online payments (cards, transfers, USSD, mobile money) and offline cash payments
  • Offering clear documentation and help resources

TaxTech NG does NOT guarantee specific tax outcomes, refunds, or NRS acceptance of filings. Final tax liability is determined by the National Revenue Service.

5. Identity Verification

TaxTech NG uses the following identity verification methods:

  • BVN (Bank Verification Number): Your BVN is hashed and masked immediately upon collection. It is never stored in plaintext and cannot be recovered in readable form.
  • TIN (Tax Identification Number): Your TIN is validated against NRS records through secure channels and stored as a tokenized reference only.
  • Temporary TIN: If you do not have a BVN or TIN, TaxTech NG will generate a Temporary ID for your filing, which will be replaced with a permanent TIN upon NRS validation.

6. Payments & Refunds

6.1 Supported Payment Channels

TaxTech NG supports the following payment methods:

  • Online Payments: Credit/debit cards, bank transfers, USSD codes, and mobile money wallets via Paystack and Flutterwave
  • Offline Cash Payments: In-person cash payments at Moniepoint, Paga, and OPay agent locations

6.2 Refund Rules

  • Service Fees: Service fees charged by TaxTech NG are non-refundable once payment is completed.
  • Tax Payments: Tax payments made to the NRS follow NRS refund rules, not TaxTech NG refund policies. If you believe you are owed a refund, contact the NRS directly.
  • Failed Transactions: If a payment transaction fails or is not completed, the payment processor (Paystack, Flutterwave, or the offline agent) will automatically reverse the transaction. TaxTech NG does not hold funds from failed payments.

7. Receipts & Recordkeeping

After successful payment, TaxTech NG generates an official tax receipt that includes:

  • Unique payment reference number
  • Filing date and payment date
  • Masked BVN/TIN for privacy protection
  • Total tax paid and filing category (Formal or Informal)

Receipts are stored securely in your TaxTech NG dashboard and can be downloaded at any time. You are responsible for keeping copies of your receipts for your own records.

8. Limited Liability

TaxTech NG is a digital assistant and is not liable for the following:

  • User-Entered Errors: Incorrect filings resulting from inaccurate information entered by the user
  • Delayed Bank Confirmations: Payment delays caused by payment processors, banks, or offline agents
  • Outdated Information: Incorrect filings caused by outdated or false information provided by the user
  • NRS Decisions: Final tax determinations, refunds, or penalties imposed by the National Revenue Service
  • Third-Party Services: Issues arising from third-party payment processors, offline agents, or other external services

TaxTech NG provides tools to assist with tax filing but does not guarantee specific tax outcomes or NRS acceptance.

All content, branding, user interface design, workflows, code, documentation, and other materials on TaxTech NG are the exclusive property of TaxTech NG and are protected by Nigerian and international intellectual property laws.

You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, modify, or create derivative works of any TaxTech NG content without express written permission.

10. Termination

TaxTech NG reserves the right to suspend or terminate user accounts in the following circumstances:

  • Suspected fraud, misrepresentation, or manipulation of tax calculations
  • Violation of these Terms of Use or applicable Nigerian tax laws
  • Repeated abuse of the platform or support resources
  • Legal or regulatory requirements

Upon termination, your access to TaxTech NG will be revoked, but previously submitted filings and receipts will remain accessible for a reasonable period as required by law.
