How the 4-step Formal workflow works
Formal filing is a comprehensive 4-step process for taxpayers with documented income and deduction claims.
Overview
The Formal workflow calculates your tax using progressive tax bands and allows you to claim all eligible deductions and reliefs under the 2026 NRS reforms.
Step 1: Profile Setup
Enter your personal details and identification:
- Full name, email, phone number
- Choose filing year (default: 2026)
- Provide TIN or BVN for validation
- System validates against NRS/BVN databases
Step 2: Income Entry
Enter all sources of taxable income:
- Salary income (if you're a salaried employee)
- Business income (if you operate a business)
- Investment income (dividends, interest, capital gains)
- Other taxable earnings
Step 3: Deductions & Reliefs
Claim all applicable deductions to reduce your taxable income:
- Consolidated relief allowance
- Pension contributions (if applicable)
- National Housing Fund (NHF) contributions
- Life insurance premiums
- Allowable work-related expenses
Step 4: Review & File
TaxTech NG automatically calculates your tax using the 2026 progressive bands, applies your reliefs, and displays your final payable amount. Review everything carefully, then proceed to payment.
Important Notes
Make sure all income and deduction amounts are accurate before filing. You can save your progress as a Draft and return later. Once you proceed to payment, you cannot edit the filing.
